    sketch

"A sketch from the fields around my studio in Norfolk, where there are many patches of sunflowers grown to provide food for the wild birds. I am particularly fond of sunflowers – they are so cheerful when they are flowering but also just as interesting when they begin to wither and dry, and form magnificent seed heads. This was drawn in water-soluble pencil with pastel.
In my sketches and my paintings, I strive to capture their quirky character rather than produce a botanical illustration".
