Husband and Wife in tribute to Norfolk
Husban-and-wife Ann Marie and Kevin Ryan realised their dream when they moved form Surrey to Norfolk to become full-time professional artists.
For many years they had been fascinated by the Norfolk countryside, and now their home alongside Peddars Way provides the ideal base for explorations, which have culminated in a joint exhibition at the airy gallery at 5 King Street.
They do not have to venture far from their studios to capture the landscape they love- but coincidentally both artists work in vibrant colours, whether the scenes depict summer heat or an impending storm.
Although Kevin and Ann-Marie work independently, they both adopt an abstract style which would not appeal to everyone, but their pictures contain a compelling texture, which encourages further exploration and offers great dynamism.
Both work in acrylics, and from Ann-Marie's large dramatic Harvest Gold and smaller Wheatfields to Kevin's Peddar's Winter, this is an exhibition of powerful and magnetic colours which cannot fail to impress.
When two artists record the Norfolk landscape with such colourful pictures, they pay the county a huge compliment.
